PRECISION BALLISTICS ~ Version 5
Precision Ballistics is a program designed to accurately calculate flat trajectories (under 5 degrees) in various atmospheric and wind conditions using a Drag Function appropriate to the physical configuration of a projectile. This software calculates the trajectories of projectiles using a choice of either the G1, GL, G5, G6 or Round ball Drag Functions.
Click on Tab buttons and the shield in the image below to open help context pages.
To return, click on the back in the top left panel.
Other features include:
- Context sensitive help files that are accessible by Tab-selecting the component and pressing the F1 key.
- Optional bullet imaging functions. (Turn on or off in the "File" menu topic at the top of the main data entry page.)
- Calculations and data base storage/retrieval of single or multiple ballistic coefficients for the drag function that is best suited to the ballistic profile of a bullet, using recorded starting and ending velocities at measured ranges or by using a physical description and precise measurements of the bullet
- Calculation of a ballistic coefficient from a trajectory that is determined by target coordinates and sight settings at two different ranges.
- Adjustments of the ballistic coefficient to conform to varying atmospheric conditions.
- Calculations of sight settings and adjustments for telescopic, adjustable and vernier sights in clicks, graduations, inches or points and also in inches and minutes-of-angle.
- Performs range calculations in units of either yards or meters.
- Incremental ranges may be as small as one unit of measure and calculated out to ranges of 2, 000 units of measure, (providing, of course, that the computer has the capacity to accomplish a task of those proportions).
- In order to facilitate the calculation of ranges at odd distances, four of the entry fields allow entry of non-incremental units of distance.
- Displays individual range, velocity, energy, time-of-flight, drop, departure minute-of-angle, impact angle, bullet path and the maximum ordinate (mid-range trajectory height) height, distance and time-of-flight.
- Calculates wind deflection values for wind velocities to 40 m.p.h., in 5 m.p.h. intervals, from all "clock-face" directions, and displays the results in both inches and minutes-of-angle
- Calculates Head and Tail Wind vector effects on the bullet strike at all ranges.
- Stores and retrieves sight types, configurations and settings keyed to individual firearms.
- Stores and retrieves all setup data keyed to individual firearms.
In the event that no functioning mouse device is present, the program is designed so that it may be navigated and operated using only the keyboard by utilizing Tab, Shift/Tab, Enter, Alt, F2, arrow keys, etc., however, point-and-click is the preferred method of operation.
