Meplate/Tip  Diameter


Meplate or Round Tip Diameter Measurement




If the tip is sharp pointed, then enter a value of zero ( 0.0 ).
If the tip is either flat or hollow point, measure and enter as shown below.
If the tip is round, then follow the suggestions preceding the second graphic below.




When a cast bullet with slightly tapered round nose is encountered, as shown below, measure the distance from the start of the nose curve, or radius, to the tip, as illustrated below, and enter that value as Nose Length. Note that the tip usually resembles a hemisphere or round ball before the curve changes to a radius curve as the illustration shows. Measure the diameter of this hemisphere where it joins the radius curve, as shown, and enter this value as the Meplate Diameter.
